Day 3 and 4 of the doubles masters in A'dam

Hello everybody!

Day 3 and 4 at the Doubles Masters in Amsterdam. On Thursday night we’ve played a 3 hour match against the British team Jordanne Whiley and Lucy Shuker. Whiley and Shuker won the first set 6-3. We broke early in the second set to lead 4-1 and 5-3. We were forced to play a second set tiebreak where we dominated and only lost one point. We leveled the match, 7-6. The third set was a very close one. We really wanted to go for the victory, but Whiley and Shuker refused us to win the match. We lost the deciding set 6-4.

Today we’ve played our final round robin match against second seeds, Jiske Griffioen and Aniek Van Koot. We’ve never been able to win against this team. Today was our last chance to stay in the tournament. We immediately made a strong start by putting a lot of pressure on our opponents. We had break points to lead 4-1 in the first set. Griffioen and Van Koot didn’t give up and leveld to 4-4. Unfortunately we lost the first set 6-4. In the second set we had some difficulties keeping up with the high level and came down to 2-3. We weren’t able to break in the second set and lost 6-3.

All round robin matches are finished, so now we know who will play the final on Sunday and who will compete in the play-offs. Tomorrow we play at 4pm to earn a third place against the British team Whiley and Shuker. It sure will be an exciting match to go for a final victory!

I’m going back home tomorrow after the match. I have exactly one day to prepare myself for the NEC Singles Masters. On Monday I will practice at TC Heiveld at 2pm. On Tuesday the most important tournament starts! I’m so excited!

See you!
Annick Sevenans
